Project Nola 2006

As I've said before, I'm re~locating to New Orleans in May 2006.

In order to do that, I MUST save $$$ in time. Which means I'm going to have to budget and get tough with the shopaholic in me. I have to remind myself (daily) of the real reward of all of this.

So I am going to motivate myself with a creative image. I'm going to get a cute, whimsical PIGGY BANK.

That will give me the visual motivation and kick in the butt to really budget tight.

So I'm putting it out there right now. I will save $3800~$4000 by May 1st. There, I said it!!!

Happy Saturday, everyone! This here---> is my new Spring necklace called Wisteria. The big cluster of cubic zirconia & chains is the "wisteria" part, if you haven't caught that.

Today I met a friend and made a necklace for her. Admittedly, I re~designed something she got. It was fun, and the best part...I was in the area of the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. So yeah for the mocha latte and butter croissant.

I went home and did the laundry and made "Wisteria".

I then went into Planet Sark and posted a huge list of various links. You should visit Sark's page... http://www.planetsark.com

Have you been to my site yet? http://niseymyers.com Just checking.

Not much to add today so I'll close this short & sweet!!!

Micromovements:

I really need to do something to spark my art sales. It's been slumping and tha depresses me. I should be at a higher level of selling by now. In fact, it should be 50% of my income. Right now, it's just an expensive hobby.

So I've begun some micromovements to improve this. I have jotted them down here to keep them at the foreground of my thoughts.

I Have:
~ Started my new website.
~ Added pics and organized pages for each style
~ Linked new website to everything I havee
~ Started a blog w/ pics of art
~ Changed day of jewelry class...I expect that this new day will draw more people and I will be more energized and peppy.

I Need To:
~ Start saving $$ (being sick w/ no pay was a hard setback)
~ Re-work business cards & distribute ~ Promote more
~ Look into hosting my own art show at home or ??? (inspired by another MMBer)
~ Gather contact info on people in Nola (will be calling them soon)
~Get piggy bank. hahaha! No-seriously. I save better w/ a piggy bank because I have obsessive tendancies. THAT means...I'll get obsessive about stuffing the little piggy and will therefore save more faster. (i've learned how to work my quirks to my advantage)
~ Insist on more personal space. Getting out of the house on my terms and RELAXING....

NEW PAINTING I did today...that's it, just wanted to share

I've been hit with inspiration and total lack of sleep. YAY *~insomnia~*

Someone in a forum mentioned that they put on an art show at their house. I WANNA DO THAT!!

I've been whining about lack of ideas. About how in the world can I further promote my art without spending $$ (which I don't have). This is a GREAT idea because I could advertise w/ flyers and forums and such.

And since it would be marketed as an Art Show...no one should feel pressured to purchase. So if they do, it's because they want to!

Now I have to plan this new project out. On one hand it should be incredibly simple. On the other hand, there could be difficulties.

For now, I am happy with posting this in public; getting it out of my head and in print. There. I've said it. Now I can work on it.

Happy Weekend Everyone!

The painting right here is one of my favorite latest pieces.

I celebrated the Mardi Gras Spirit.

I love that New Orleans uses it's original architecture. New Orleans is a living museum; interactive and growing.

New Orleans needs support of the American People. Tourists bring revenue and revenue helps business flourish, thus bringing back the residents. When the residents return to New Orleans, the true rebuilding can begin.

There is already so much rebuilding in progress. Everyday businesses are re~opening their doors, artists are re~creating and life is returning to New Orleans.

My rambling point is: Please help New Orleans be what it can be.

Yay Bronchitis! *~woot~*

It's pretty much gone by now, but what a ride!! A week of no work (no pay) and sitting in the house watching COPS every night...now that's a vacation!

I'm back to work now and just trying to hold on until Friday.

Last night I taught my jewelry making class. Yes, I have a Basic Jewelry Making Class at Michael's Arts & Crafts in Santa Monica, California.

If you're interested, it's on 4th Street in Santa Monica. In FEBRUARY, it's Sundays @ 10am for 2hrs. It's $15 per class--NOT including supplies. You have to bring your own "stuff". But it's fun and easy. Come on down!

I have not yet added anything to my CafePress Shops since my return from New Orleans. But what I do have is GREAT!

I'm contributing a % of sales to 3 local New Orleans organizations from my CafePress Shops. So if you want some cool New Orleans items and give to a good cause, look at my sites.

Niseymyers

January 17, 2006

Welcome to my first blog. I hadn't planned on starting a blog until just about now. Not even 15minutes ago had I planned on it. But here I am.

I have been dealing with Bronchitis for the past week and a half. Right after I returned from my New Orleans trip I had gotten sick. I believe that it was my body complaining about leaving New Orleans and returning to craptastic Los Angeles.

Yeah, well that's the basis of this blog for now. Yackin' about my insane love of New Orleans.
I might post about a dozen pics of New Orleans. I will rate various parts of the city and businesses.

Sit tight and enjoy the tour. Or not. I hope someone can get something out of this little ramble of a blog.
