35th Birthday Celebration

This Tuesday, April 2th, I will be 35. Which means in JUST 5yrs, I'll be 40, but I digress.

Figuring that last year I was kinda broke and didn't bother rallying anyone together to do anything for my 34th bday, I decided to do a little extra this time around.

THIS WEEKENDS' CELEBRATIONS

For starters, I'm going to do the "cash on the shirt" thing that's so popular in New Orleans. See if I can't make at least some drink $$$. Never done it before and not sure why.

Saturday: Around 4pm, meet up with friends at Yo Mama's for killer burgers. Maybe the Quarter afterwards and pick up some cash with my birthday safety pin


Sunday: Drag Show @ OZ @ 9pm. Then too much drinking and parading my safety pin again. Oh yeah, I'm gonna milk this for all it's worth!!! Different atmosphere, so it won't be the same people...


Monday: Taking whatever I've collected from my safety pin and go to a movie, lunch and possibly get my hair done. Of course, tomorrow's payday, so I'll have other money too. (but not much)


Tuesday: Sleep in later, work 5-9pm. THEN!!!! Get in wench costume and meet up with the New Orleans Krewe of Pirate Wenches. Starting at Hobnobbers, then picking a balcony from which to toss beads. And yes, of course...the safety pin will be on display.

I think that suffices as a pretty nice birthday celebration. Doing this over several days lets everyone join in if they want. Rather than making people pick just one day.

In other Bday news...My mom got me this cool tiny laptop that's got wifi, webcam and other stuff already built in!!!! I'm currently typing this blog on it now and it's fan~freakin~tastic.

I'm thinking that the next week is going to be a blast.

FQF Parade Was Great & Bday Plans Made

Danielle & I headed to Bourbon & Iberville and met up with the other wenches. We took a few pics & started unraveling beads. I downed a "frap" for fuel. The parade started and, as promised, I did not run out of beads until the end. I forgot a few beads at home, but it was alright because I literally had my hands full. I gave mostly to the older ladies and kids. One weird thing is the # of people NOT interested in beads--and even giving me strange/dirty looks! WTH...Anyways...more beads for those interested. After the parade, we headed to my house and both changed; her for recreation and I for work. I got to work by the skin of my teeth and had a weird day.

Birthday Plans are forming

On my actual Bday, I'm working 5-9. It's only 4hrs, so what the hell. THEN!!! Changing and meeting with the Pirate Wenches. We're going to take over a balcony somewhere on Bourbon and toss beads all night. Awesome news: my schedule is changing & I'm only working the night shift on Wednesdays. That means I can get trashed on my Bday and not worry about working the next morning!

I'm still wanting to do something with the rangers either that Sunday or Monday before. We'll see what people want to do; if anything. I'm sure I can at least follow Sam around for a few hours. And Monday, maybe take myself to a movie.

Middle of the Night

I should be going to bed now.

But of course, I am being naughty with coffee and can't even think of sleep. I have to get up @ 7:30am (maybe 7:50) to prepare for Danielle coming at 8:30am. I gotta cinch into my wench costume by then. We are asked to arrive @ 9am and the parade rolls @ 10am. Danielle wants to meet up & get drinks first.

It occurred to me that this is the 3rd parade I've walked in this year!!! I wasn't prepared at all for the KOE, because I didn't know I'd be invited. I passed out all my goodies way too soon for the Pyratecon parade. This time, I have maybe too many beads. I'm not running out early tomorrow. There's no way!

I have included some seriously kick ass throws this time. I shall be the envy perhaps! It wasn't as hard to let go of some of the things as I thought. Ya know how us bead whores are! And I still have freakin 6 bags of beads that I've chosen to keep. I mean...come on!

Passing out the beads was fun!!!!! I found myself hooking up the kids with stuff; especially the girls! They were in awe with the whole parade last time, to begin with.


...I can't believe my 35th birthday is a week and a half away and I haven't even started making plans. I mean, what's up with that?!!!! I'm kinda hoping to rope some of the rangers together for some kind of shindig. We'll see. Alas, my Aussie friend had a set back and won't be here in time to celebrate my Bday. *~sigh~*

Since time flies so fast these days, I can't help but realize that 40 is around the corner. I mean, 2008 was here & gone before I realized it! It seems more & more that I'm saying "it seems like it was yesterday"...Well. I'm trying to not obsess on the 40...just make it to 35 and keep going.

Hhhhhmmm....I wonder if there's any chance the Wenches wanna do something? I smell rum cake!!!!!!! We'll see. It's a Tuesday and I'm half~tempted to just work my normal hours. I'll decide that when it gets here.

There's all this talk about the "bucket list"...Well, I started writing mine and realized that it's kinda short and sad. I mean, I have dreams. But when I am prompted to write them down, I blank after about 10 things. I guess I'm too damned simple. Does that mean there's something wrong with me?

I guess that's it for now.

Pointless Ramble

Don't you hate the feeling...of needing to ramble but not really having much to say?

That's where I am right now. I'm waiting for a friend to come over for a few hours. It's my day off. I'm feeling selfish with my day off and, well, wish I DIDN'T have someone coming over. But I've been putting them off for about two weeks. So I don't want to be too rude. And really, this is just pure laziness.

Last night I was told my ultrasound was normal and there's nothing wrong with my girlie bits. A relief, but then in a week or two, it's going to feel different. Again. So I guess now the search is on to find out what that pain is. Moving upwards. A year ago I found I had gall stones and "elevated enzymes" in my liver. Maybe it's one of those. It has been a year since I've dealt with that. Bad me. Bad patient.

NEXT FRIDAY IS THE FRENCH QUARTER FEST PARADE...10AM. Starts at Bourbon & Iberville. I sadly don't know the route. But in the past, it has ended at Jackson Square. I have soooo many goodies to toss! This time, I'm going to pace myself.

LAST SATURDAY WAS THE PIRATE PARADE...I was so into it, I threw all my stuff in 3 blocks. HA!!! Sam, who joined and had a blast, laughed at me because we had a good 15-20 blocks left to go. Oops. I'll call that a rehearsal...yeah...

I think tonight I will organize my throws (another thing I didn't do last Sat). That will give me something to do. I REALLY should be cleaning my room and trashing a ton of stuff. Sigh...that's too much work for my lazy ass.

Hhhhhmmmm. I think I've rambled enough. Time to get dressed.

PyrateCon 2009

THE PIRATES ARE IN NEW ORLEANS!

Until Sunday, the streets of New Orleans will be filled with pirates, wenches, rum, more pirates and apparently a white rat with a "plundered" sticker on its butt.

I am now with the New Orleans Krewe of Pirates & Wenches and indulged in a little piratey fun. My alter~ego, "Victoria Thunderpussy" was debuted and well received by a few. Victoria has only just begun to show herself to the world. She started slow tonight, just showing one nipple. Give it time...

Saturday has the all day events: street parties, parades, even a wedding! Look for the Pirate Wenches in Pirates Alley around 4pm for that wedding; we're the color guard! (sniffles~always the wench, never the bride)

This weekend will give me the chance to have some much needed drinks and relax with new friends. I need to get a bit out of hand because I've allowed myself to get into a slump as of late. So Victoria's throwin on the corset and doin a little pillaging of her own!
